Ξ I’m not sure when McDonald’s plans to use a 92-second McCafé  TV commercial other than at its shareholder meeting (as it did last week), but “Joe and Frank” from DDB is a charmer. And those who, like Joe and Frank, are of a certain age may recognize Blythe Danner, actress and mother of Gwyneth Paltrow, Channing Chase, an actress who resembles Blythe Danner, playing Grace here. (Apologies for the initial misinformation. Gwyneth must be so confused. I certainly am.)

Ξ If you’re thinking of being cool and including live, unfiltered Twitter feed on your website, visit and see how that cutting-edge idea works for them. When I visited, the first tweet read, “Now I know why I hate OTP: chain restaurants. #rubytuesday sucks.” Not all publicity is good publicity.

Ξ Win-win? U.S. District Court Judge K, Michael Moore has ruled that Burger King was within its rights to set a $1 maximum price on the Double Cheeseburger, a setback for franchisees, the Miami Herald reports. But the court granted the chain’s National Franchisee Association legal standing to sue the company, a first, and the court will hear operators’ arguments that Burger King acted in bad faith in implementing the unpopular price reduction. This fight isn’t over.
