McDonald’s Operators: Focus on Our Core

McDonald’s Corp. reports Q3 sales and earnings on Friday. In advance, Nomura restaurant analyst Mark Kalinowski lowered his forecast for Q3 same-store sales to +0.2% from +1.62%. The Q4 forecast was lowered a full 1% to -2.0%. Kalinowski’s survey of 30 McDonald’s franchisees (accounting for 271 stores) finds their Q3 comp sales lowest in the […]

Boxed Breakfasts and Bud Burgers

Monday again. Here’s what others were talking about while the rest of us were weekending and avoiding politics: All Day Breakfast at McDonald’s has spawned something new and potentially ground breaking at its Pacific NW stores: multi-person boxed breakfasts. The four-person NFL-tied Blitz Box in Seattle includes two Egg McMuffins, two Sausage McMuffins, two Sausage […]

Burger Chains Keeping Prices in Check

Burger Chains Keeping Prices in Check

Burger King may have raised some eyebrows with the steep $5.99 price for the Bacon King burger it introduced yesterday. Is this a sign of escalating burger prices? Actually, it really isn’t. Although $5.99 is a premium price, it’s not Burger King’s highest. The record was last year’s A.1. Hearty Mozzarella Cheeseburger which went off […]

Following the remarkable success of the Chick’n Shack chicken sandwich it rolled out nationally in January, Shake Shack has created a second chicken recipe. As it did with the Chick’n Shack, the chain is putting the new Salt & Pepper Honey Chick’n into just its Brooklyn locations for now. Priced at $6.29 (the same as […]

Burger of the Month Specials: Oct. 2016

The annual bratwurst invasion is on with the rollout of Oc(k)toberfest burgers. Then there are those burger joints whose eyes already are on the end of the month. Their October Burger of the Month specials have ghost-pepper cheese, sriracha and a Halloween theme. But first I want to applaud those burger bars that recognize October […]

The Most Intriguing Octoberfest Burgers

The Most Intriguing Octoberfest Burgers

Next week I’ll round up the Burger of the Month specials for October, and it’s a safe bet that many will be Octoberfest themed. But some burger bars and chains aren’t waiting for October to begin: Their Octoberfest burgers already are on the menu. Here’s a look at some of the most intriguing. Hops Burger […]

Jack in the Box Green-Lights Brunchfast

Jack in the Box announced the launch of “Brunchfast” the daypart that BurgerBusiness.com reported in June that it had trademarked and in August reported that it was testing in California. At this week’s Wells Fargo Retail, Restaurant & Consumer Forum, Jack in the Box Brand President Frances Allen announced the roll out, saying that in […]
